TETANY
Tetany is a condition characterized by involuntary contractions of muscles, which can cause muscle spasms, cramps, and twitching. These contractions occur due to low levels of calcium in the blood, which is necessary for proper muscle function.

Tetany can be caused by a variety of factors, including hypoparathyroidism (a condition in which the parathyroid gland produces too little parathyroid hormone), vitamin D deficiency, alkalosis (a condition in which the blood becomes too alkaline), or other electrolyte imbalances.

Symptoms of tetany can include numbness or tingling in the fingers and around the mouth, muscle cramps and spasms, and in severe cases, convulsions or seizures. Treatment for tetany typically involves correcting the underlying cause of the condition, as well as providing supplemental calcium and other electrolytes as needed.
