atmometer

İngilizce - Türkçe

ATMOMETER
An atmometer, also known as an evaporimeter, is a scientific instrument used to measure the rate of evapotranspiration. Evapotranspiration is the combined process of water evaporation from the soil and transpiration from plants.

An atmometer typically consists of a container, often made of ceramic, with a semi-permeable membrane covering the opening. The container is filled with water, and as the water evaporates through the membrane, it creates a negative pressure inside the container. This negative pressure causes water to be drawn up from a connected reservoir and into the atmometer, replenishing the water that has evaporated.

The rate at which water is drawn up from the reservoir is proportional to the rate of evapotranspiration, and can be measured and recorded to provide information about water usage by plants and soil moisture levels. Atmometers are commonly used in agriculture and environmental science to monitor and manage irrigation and water conservation practices.
