Thankful kötü bir şey olmadığına veya iyi bir şey olduğuna sevinen, menun demektir. Thankful for sth, thankful that-clause veya thankful wh-clause şeklinde kullanılır.

I was thankful for a chance to drink tea.

Grateful ise teşekkür borçlu, minnettar demektir ve grateful (to sb) (for sth) veya grateful (that) şeklinde kullanılır.
