Yanlış : She went to the hospital to see her ill father.

Doğru : She went to the hospital to see her sick father.

Hasta babasını görmek için hastaneye gitti.

Her ikisi de hasta anlamlarına gelen bu sözcüklerden ill, sadece fiilerden sonra kullanılır, isimlerin önünde yer almaz. İsimlerin önünde ill sözcüğünün yerine sick kullanılır.

She spent all night with her sick baby.

Bütün geceyi hasta bebeğiyle geçirdi.

They laid the sick child on the bed.

Hasta çocuğu yatağa yatırdılar.

What is wrong? You look ill.
