Keşke şikâyet etmekten vazgeçsen.

Gerçek bir geçmişi göstermek için if only’den sonra uzak geçmiş zaman (past perfect tense) kullanılır.

If only he had told you the truth months ago!

Keşke gerçeği sana aylar önce söyleseydi (söylemiş olsaydı).

(Ama sana gerçeği aylar önce söylemedi.)

If only you had explained the situation to me.

Keşke bana durumu açıklasaydın (açıklamış olsaydın).

If only you'd told me it was her birthday, I'd have bought a present.
