yaşamak - oturmak - Turkish Grammar

If the English verb live means be alive, it is yaşamak; if it means dwell, it is oturmak.

LIVE

1. be/remain alive -> yaşamak

Dedem doksanına kadar yaşadı.

Grandfather lived to the age of 90.

2. dwell, reside, abide, sojourn, lodge, stay -> oturmak

We live in Istanbul.
