past perfect continuous

past perfect continuous = sürekli uzak geçmiş zaman

Özne + had been -ing yapısında kullanılır. Soru ve olumsuzlar had yardımcısı ile yapılır.

I had been working.     I hadn't been working.    Had I been working?

He had been working.    He hadn't been working.   Had he been working?

They had been working.  They hadn't been working. Had they been working?

Geçmişteki bir olay anına kadar süregelen eylemleri belirtir.

(1) geçmişte olmuş bir olay (past simple)

(2) geçmişte olan olay anına kadar devam etmiş bir eylem (past perfect cont.)

When I called him in, he had been working in the garden for three hours.

Onu içeri çağırdığımda üç saattir bahçede çalışıyordu.

We were sitting in the park since nine o'clock when she arrived.

O geldiğinde biz parkta saat dokuzdan beri oturuyorduk.

He had been working as a taxi driver before he got the job at the car factory.

Araba fabrikasında işe başlamadan önce bir taksi şoförü olarak çalışıyordu.
